Tigers rally past Duluth East
The Northwestern High School softball team earned a come-from-behind 10-8 win over Duluth East Friday in a nonconference game in Duluth.
Duluth East jumped to an early lead and was up 8-4 after three innings. Cassidy Friend then came in to relieve Macey Schultz and shut door on the Greyhound hitters.
The Tigers chipped away and got to 8-7 heading into the seventh. Northwestern put up three runs, and Friend got the Greyhounds in order to preserve the win.
Brooklyn Oswskey was the hitting standout for Scott Janigo’s crew, going 4-of-5, including a triple off the top of the fence. Laryssa Vik scored two runs and added an RBI.
The win was the fifth in a row for Northwestern and puts the Tigers at 8-3. Their next scheduled game is today at Ladysmith, and they host Spooner Thursday at Brule.
