Tiger volleyball team goes 1-1 at home

The Northwestern Tigers girls volleyball team opened its season by going 1-1 in its own triangular Thursday evening in the NSH gym.

The Tigers rebounded from a 2-0 loss to Ashland with a 2-0 win over Mellen. Ashland finished the event with a 2-0 win over Mellen.

Against Ashland, Daisy Mack had 12 assists; Amanda Ogren had five kills and five digs; Cheyenne Johnson had four kills; Alyssa Frick had 17 digs; and Lexi Janigo added eight digs.

In the win over Mellen, Janigo had five kills and six digs; Johnson had five kills; Mack dished out 15 assists; Frick had eight digs; Sara Garland added five digs and four assists; and Shayla Michel had nine assists.

The Tigers host South Shore at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
