Northwestern winning streak reaches 8 games

The Northwestern Tiger girls softball team cruised to its eighth straight Heart O’ North Conference win last week with a 15-0 win over Barron.
In HON action the Tigers are averaging 16.4 runs per game and giving up an average of 1.1 runs per game.
This week will be a big one for the Tigers, as they host Bloomer at Brule at 5 p.m. today; go to Chetek-Weyerhauser Wednesday; and host Cumberland in a doubleheader Thursday.
Bloomer is in first place in the HON at 9-0, and Cumberland in third at 6-2 with both losses at the hands of Bloomer.
Sophomore Cheyenne Johnson has been the Tigers’ main pitcher, freshman Laryssa Vik leads the team in home runs and junior Madeline Spangenberg leads the team in stolen bases.
The defending HON conference champion Tigers are 8-1 overall.
