Tiger girls defeat Cumberland

The Northwestern High School girls basketball team defeated Cumberland 55-28 Tuesday night in Maple.

The Tigers took a 12-6 lead after the first quarter, and strong second quarter performances from Aleia Lupa and Amanda Ogren helped Northwestern put the game out of reach. Lupa scored nine points in the second quarter, while Ogren hit a pair of 3-pointers and a pair of free throws for eight points.

Lupa finished the night with 15 points to lead Northwestern. Ogren made a trio of 3-pointers as she scored 13 points, and Cheyenne Johnson added 12 points, seven in the first quarter.

Shyyanne Mattson led the Cumberland Beavers with 15 points.
