Spartan tennis and soccer teams come up short

Boys Tennis

The Superior High School tennis team lost 6-1 Tuesday evening at Ashland.

Jack Androsky picked up the Spartans’ win with a 7-6 (10-8), 6-1 victory over Paul Bianchi at No. 3 singles.

Superior plays at Cloquet at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.

Girls soccer

The Spartans suffered their straight shutout with a 1-0 loss at Rice Lake Tuesday evening.

Katelyn Holmstrom scored for Rice Lake (6-4-3, 2-4-1 BRC) and Brooke Olson had five saves.

Sam Young had eight saves for Superior, now 2-5 overall and in the Big Rivers Conference.

Rice Lake outshot Superior 16-10.

The Spartans play at Eau Claire North at 5 p.m. Thursday. They will then play two games in the Wausau West tournament Saturday.
