Spartan golfers win pair at Cumberland
The Superior High School girls golf team won two Heart O’ North Conference matches Monday at Cumberland.
The Spartans finished with a team score of 223. Cumberland finished second at 241 and Chetek-Weyerhaeuser was disqualified and didn’t record a final score.
Bridget Beyer was Superior’s low golfer with a 52. Lauren Raboin was next at 54, followed by Missy Walkowiak, 56; Connie Misfeldt, 61; and Jazmine Wells with a non-counting 66.
Cumberland’s Faith Erickson and Chetek’s Emily Boese shared medalist honors with 50s.
The Spartans also competed in the Hayward Invitational Thursday at the Big Fish Golf Club.
The Spartans finished with a score of 450, led by Raboin’s 110. Misfeldt was next at 112, Beyer and Kacy Larson tied with 114s and Wills carded a 116.
“The girls did a great job on a very difficult course,” SHS coach Dan Schulz said. “Sophomore Kacy Larson saw her first career varsity action and played very steady. All the girls had a couple bad holes that brought their score up a bit, but they really grinded it out on a hot sunny day.”
Stanley-Boyd finished first with a team total of 353, 11 strokes better than Hayward’s 364.
Stanley-Boyd’s Katie Kiraly was the medalist with an 82.; Former Superiorite Alyssa Bee finished third four Eau Claire North at 82.
On Wednesday the Spartans finished in sixth place at their own Nemadji Invitational.
