Spartan golfers open with 1-1 record at Barron

The Superior High School girls golf team opened the season with a pair of matches Tuesday morning at Barron.

Ladysmith went 2-0 on the day with a 201. Superior split its matches with a score of 217 and the host Bears went 0-2 with a 230.

Jasmine Wills was Superior’s low golfer with a 48. She was followed by Missy Walkowiak, 53; Lauren Raboin, 56; Bridget Beyer, 60; and Connie Misfeldt, with a non-counting 64.

Ladysmith had the two low scores on the day. Camry Rogers took medalist honors with a 40, and Jill Bucholz finished second at 43.

Superior will host a number of Big Rivers Conference teams in a meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Joining the Spartans at the Nemadji Golf Course will be Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire Memorial, Menomonie, New Richmond, Rice Lake and River Falls.

The Spartans will then play in the Hayward Invitational at 3 p.m. Thursday at Hayward Golf & Tennis Club.
