Spartan soccer team ties, girls golf team goes 1-1

The Superior High School boys soccer team battled to a 3-3 tie with Hibbing-Chisholm Thursday night at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

Logan Kittleson scored all three goals for the Spartans, now 1-3-1 on the season.

Superior jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Kittleson goals in the 17th and 21st minutes.

The first half ended in a 2-2 tie after the Bluejackets’ Parker Osborne scored on a penalty kick and Riley Versich scored with an assist from Andy Mickelson.

Hibbing-Chisholm took a 3-2 lead two minutes into the second half of Connor Smilancich’s goal and Superior tied it up on Kittleson’s third goal of the game in the 52st minute.

Kade Walpole and Maverick Peterson had an assist each for Superior.

The Spartans host Hermantown at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Proctor at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Girls golf

The Spartan girls hosted a triangular Thursday at the Nemadji Golf Course.

Spooner went 2-0 in the event with a team score of 172. The host Spartans came in a 228, one stroke better than Chetek’s 229.

Spooner’s Dani Dewitt and Maddie Friedman shared medalist honors with 42s. Chetek was led by Jasmyn Collins’ 54.

Superior scores were Kayla Raboin, 56; Hailey Gronquist and Lauren Raboin, 57s; and Missy Walkowiak and Halie Mackie, 58s.

Superior’s JV scores were: Connie Misfeldt and Jazmine Wills, 54s; Lyvia Olson, 61; Bridget Beyer, 62; Megan Struss, 63; Emily VanErt, 68; Meghan Jaszczak, 70; Abby Johnson and Kathryn Hulce, 72s; and Emma Geitner, 73.

Up next for the Spartans is the Northwestern Invitational at 9 a.m. Thursday.
