Spartan girls dominate MBC soccer team

The Superior High School girls soccer team capped off its second straight Middle Border Conference championship by having seven players named all-conference.

Bridget Manion, Malley O’Brien, Rachel Dixon and Jaydeen Anderson were named first team; Amber Welsh and Sage Olson were second-team selections; and goalkeeper Sammy Young was honorable mention.

The Spartans finished the season with a record of 15-2 (15-0 in the MBC). They lost their first game of the season in overtime at Rice Lake, then lost their last game of the season 7-1 to D.C. Everest in a WIAA regional game in Schofield.

SPARTAN SPIN: O’Brien led the conference in scoring with 40 goals and 12 assists. Manion was second with 17 goals and eight assists, and Dixon was third with 12 and eight. … O’Brien finished as the state’s leading scorer during the regular season. She currently leads the state in scoring with 92 points and is second in goals with 40.
