Spartan soccer team blanks Spooner

The Superior High School girls soccer team blanked the Spooner Rails 10-0 Saturday in Spooner.

Sammy Young picked up the shutout in goal for the Spartans with five saves. Alyssa Babich had 20 saves for the Rails.

Malley O’Brien led Superior with four goals and one assist. Rachel Dixon added two goals and three assists; Bridget Manion had two goals and an assist; and Amber Welch and Kennedy Grimstead scored a goal apiece. Maddy Newman chipped in with a pair of assists and Megan Tunell had one assist.

The Spartans are scheduled to play their first home game of the season when they host Baldwin-Woodville at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
