Burger ties for fourth at Old Abe Invite

The Superior High School boys golf team finished ninth in the Eau Claire Memorial Old Abe Invitational Monday at Wild Ridges Golf Course.

The host Old Abes won the team title with a score of 297. Eau Claire North was three strokes back at 300 and Spartans came in with a 328.

Superior’s Daniel Burger led the Spartans once again, finishing tied for fourth place with a 72.

Stevens Point’s Trevor Thomas, River Falls’ Garrett Loomis and ECM’s Ben Johnson shared medalist honors with 70s.

Burger, along with ECM’s Sawyer Weiss and Ryan Isaacson and ECN’s Jared Bollinger, were next with 72s.

Other Spartan scores were Kyler Krob and Paxton Paine, 85s; Matt Hinaus, 86; and Grant Hanson, 88.

Former Superiorite Tyler Bee carded a 75 for Eau Claire North.

The Spartans will compete in a Lake Superior Conference meet at noon Wednesday at Ridgeview Country Club in Duluth.
