Two wrestlers from Superior recently competed in a national tournament in Las Vegas.

Former Superior Spartan and state champion Nikola (Niko) Bogojevic competed in the U.S. Open Division — Greco (130 KG), and Joe Reasbeck Sr. competed in the Greco and Freestyle Veterans Division at heavyweight.

Neither wrestler knew the other was going to be in attendance.

“Just for the heck of it I thought I would look at the brackets and see if Niko was competing,” Reasbeck said. “After I saw his name, I looked for him in the stands and it took a while, but I finally found him. It was great to see him and it was great to be able to watch him from mat side.”

Bogojevic, who is currently wrestling for Colorado State-Pueblo, advanced to the semifinals.

“Despite failing to make the finals, he is now among the top six in the nation in Greco and in a good place for his Olympic bid,” Reasbeck said.

Reasbeck placed first in both of his Greco and freestyle divisions. He also won the Folkstyle National Tournament on April 6 in Cedar Lake, Iowa.

“To have two guys from Superior wrestling in this national tournament was special,” Reasbeck said.
