SHS baseball team wins at Proctor

Taavi Mattson was the winning pitcher for the Spartans, allowing three hits with nine strikeouts and four walks. The two runs he allowed were both unearned.

Justin Reinkall finished for Superior, allowing one run on a hit while striking out one.

Michael Gales suffered the loss for the Rails, allowing six hits with four strikeouts and two walks in four innings.

Offensively for Superior, Justin Reinkall doubled, scored two runs and had two RBIs; Mattson had two hits with three RBIs; Peyton Flanders and Nate Kunkel had two hits apiece; and Will Mullens had a hit and RBI.

For Proctor, Shane Gould had two hits and an RBI and Evan Scherber had a RBI hit.

Superior will play a doubleheader at Chippewa Falls at 11 a.m. Saturday before playing its first home game of the season against Grand Rapids at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

SPARTAN SPIN: The SHS JV defeated Proctor 9-3. Morgen Moen picked up the win, pitching four innings allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out three. Gunner Johnson and Matt Strum pitched in relief.  The Spartans had 10 hits with Tyler Lehikoinen, Brett Austin, and Strum leading the way with two hits apiece. Josh Tomczak, Evan Willoughby, Caden Tchop and Jeremy Flaherty also had hits for the Spartans, now 3-3 on the season.
