Spartan soccer team improves to 4-1

The Superior High School girls soccer team improved to 4-1 Thursday with a 4-0 victory over Osceola.

Four different players scored for the Spartans, led by Malley O’Brien with one goal and three assists. O’Brien scored unassisted in the sixth minute and then went on to assist on all of Superior’s remaining goals.

Amber Welsh and Bridget Manion added goals in the first half, scoring less than a minute apart, to give the Spartans a 3-0 lead at halftime; and sophomore Rachel Dixon finished off the scoring with a goal at 58:53.

Sammy Young picked up the shutout in goal, finishing with seven saves. Osceola goalkeeper Shaina Ekstrom finished the game with 25 saves.
