Peterson's hat trick not enough for SHS girls

The Superior High School girls hockey team had its two-game win streak stopped with a 5-4 loss to the Siren Area Blizzard Thursday night at the Superior Ice Arena.

The Spartans trailed 3-0 after one period but then turned the tables on the Blizzard with a 3-0 advantage in the second period.

Siren broke the stalemate by outscoring Superior 2-1 in the third period.

Emma Peterson scored three goals for the Spartans, now 5-7 on the season.

Samantha Young added a goal and two assists, Amanda Hinaus had two assists and Ari Jago and Paige Harker dished out an assist apiece.

Wendy Roberts scored three goals and Jenna Curtis had two for Siren.

The Spartans host Moose Lake-Willow River at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Superior’s game with Cloquet, which was postponed Monday and Tuesday because of cold weather, will now be played at 3 p.m. on Dec. 21 at the Superior Ice Arena.
