SHS boys fall in OT to ECM
The Superior High School boys basketball team lost to Eau Claire Memorial 54-49 in overtime Friday night in the opening round of the BRC-WVC Challenge in Menomonie.
With the score tied 47-47 in the final seconds, Jake Libal’s appeared to make a game-winning basket. But after a discussion among the referees, the basket was disallowed and the game went into overtime.
The Old Abes went on to outscore the Spartans 7-2 in the extra session to win the game 54-49.
Jon Lindberg led a well-balanced Superior attack with 10 points. Libal, Brett Lozon and Matt O’Shaughnessy added nine points apiece, Nate Sanders had four and Devin Rivord and Connor Gray each had two.
O’Shaughnessy’s points came on three 3-pointers.
Superior plays Hudson at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
