Spartan girls lose at Moose Lake-Willow River

The Superior High School girls hockey team lost 9-3 Saturday afternoon at Moose Lake-Willow River.

Samantha Young, Emma Peterson and Anna Lurndal scored goals for the Spartans.

Young also notched two assists and Peterson and Ari Jago had an assist each.

Justine Stenberg finished with 21 saves in goal for Superior. Maddy Gamst had 17 saves for the Rebels.

Up next for the Spartans is the Culver’s Cup next weekend in Madison. Superior’s first game is against the Middleton Metro Lynx at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Hartmeyer Ice Arena.

Other quarterfinal games are Badger Thunder vs. St. Croix Valley Fusion, Brookfield Glacier vs. Northland Pines and University School of Milwaukee vs. Point-Rapids Red Panthers.
