Second night of ABC season runs today
ASHLAND -- Rainy, cool conditions kept fans and drivers from enjoying racing action at the ABC Raceway last weekend, but the promise of better weather for the Memorial Day weekend hopefully will bring them back tonight.
The popular northern Wisconsin speed plant will host six divisions of stock-car racing action on the 3?8 -mile red clay oval beginning with hot laps at 6:15 p.m. and followed by green-flag racing at 7 p.m.
Xtreme Sign & Graphix of Ashland will sponsor the program, which will include events for the WISSOTA-sanctioned modifieds, super stocks, street stocks and Midwest modifieds, as well as the track's own six-cylinders and pure stocks.
Last Saturday's program, which was to honor area members of the Armed Forces, will be rescheduled for later in the summer.
Feature winners from two weeks ago included mod veteran Robby Bunkelman, Curt Myers in the supers, streeter Larry Haderly, Mid-mod hotshoe Greg Chesley, Scott Ovaska in the sixes, and pure stocker Tim Carbon.
The admission price is $10 for fans ages 13 and older, while younger fans ages 12 and under will be admitted free. There is also a ten-night "punch pass" available for $90, by which fans can enjoy nine regular-admission shows and then see a tenth non-special show for free.
Season-long reserved seating is also available, at $20 per seat, but only a limited number of the 550 reserved seats remain.
The track's pre-race radio program, "Racenight," will air live from 4:30-6 p.m. with up-to-date track news and weather information, on WBSZ, 93.3 FM.
The facility is located 31?2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For race day information call (715) 682-4990 or log on to the track's Web site, www.abcraceway.
