A repeat and a three-peat highlighted the 2017 season for local softball teams.
In the regular season, the Superior High School softball made it three in a row by winning its third consecutive Lake Superior Conference title.
During the playoffs, Northwestern High School earned a repeat by claiming its second consecutive WIAA regional title. The Tigers advanced to the sectional finals this season in Division 3 after qualifying for the state tournament last year in Division 2.
For Solon Springs and Northwood, 2017 was dedicated to gaining experience for teams dominated by underclassmen.
Joining 2017 Superior Telegram Softball Player of the Year Brandie Goldberg on this year’s All-Area team are five seniors, two juniors and two sophomores.
Also nominated were Solon Springs freshman Kylli Rajala, Superior senior Allie Thul and Northwood sophomores Julia Manor and Jayden Barrett.
