One record was broken at the annual Fifth-Grade Track-o-Rama, which took place last week at the University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Marcovich Wellness Center.

Students from Northern Lights, Cooper, Cathedral, Bryant, Great Lakes, Lake Superior and Four Corners elementary schools competed in the event.

The new record was set by Rylie Taylor of Great Lakes, who won the girls 100-yard dash in 13.58 seconds. Finishing second was Anessa Lien of Four Corners with a time of 14.68.

Graham Ward of Northern Lights was the only two-time individual winner for the boys by finishing first in the 50-yard dash and long jump.

Winning for the Great Lakes boys were Evan Etter (75); Mason Larson (200); Andrew Norkel (400) and Vinnie Theisen (soccer punt).

Northern Light’s Kanayo O won the 100, and Bryant’s Ean Cummings won the softball throw.

Other girl winners from Great Lakes were Skyler Wilkins (50) and Shaniyah Sales (200).

Lake Superior winners were Alexis Johnson (75) and Alain Edge (soccer punt).

Four Corners’ Autumn Cooper (400) and Kylie Peterson (long jump) finished first, and Cathedral’s Alayna DeGraef won the softball throw.

In the tug o’ war, Northern Lights extended its winning streak by claiming its 11th straight title. The school’s last loss came to Cooper in 2006.

Great Lakes won both the boys and girls 800 relays, and Bryant finished first in the 800 coed relay.
