Any chances of the Superior High School boys hockey team securing a No. 1 seed for the upcoming playoffs were all but dashed with a 4-1 loss at Hudson on Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders improved to 14-1-2 on the season with the victory, including 5-0-1 against sectional opponents. Hudson also owns three wins over New Richmond, a team that defeated Superior 3-2 earlier in the season.

The loss drops the Spartans to 10-11 overall, and 2-2 against the rest of Section 1.

Aaron Miller scored Superior’s lone goal and Paxton Paine finished with 27 saves.

Parker Shefveland scored twice for Hudson. Iver Baribeau and Cater Schuett also scored and Cody Hepfler stopped 14 shots in goal.

The Spartans play at Cloquet at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
