Running back Rajion Neal sustained an injury to his left knee as he returned a kickoff late in the first preseason game Saturday. The undrafted rookie didn’t practice Monday but expects to be fine to play this weekend at the St. Louis Rams. Neal impressed in Saturday’s game before going out as he had five carries for 39 yards (7.8 average), including an explosive 12-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Wide receiver Jordy Nelson was thought to be a healthy scratch from the first preseason game, a 20-16 loss at the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night. However, after Nelson didn’t practice Monday when the team reconvened following a day off, head coach Mike McCarthy revealed the star wideout is sidelined with a hamstring injury. McCarthy also said Nelson didn’t practice Friday before the team left for Nashville. McCarthy indicated Nelson wouldn’t be out much longer, classifying his status as "day to day."

Strong safety Morgan Burnett returned to practice Monday, a week after the veteran starter sustained an oblique strain on the practice field. Burnett jumped back in with the starters Monday after top rookie Ha Ha Clinton-Dix replaced him alongside Micah Hyde in the starting lineup for the first preseason game Saturday.

Defensive tackle Josh Boyd was held out of practice Monday with a rib injury the second-year backup apparently sustained in the first preseason game Saturday.

Wide receiver Davante Adams didn’t practice Monday because of a wrist injury he suffered in the preseason opener Saturday. Adams, a second-round draft pick this year, said the wrist wasn’t fractured and he’s hopeful of getting back on the field later this week. He had two catches for 22 yards in Saturday’s game against the Titans but also muffed two punts, the second of which set up a Tennessee touchdown in the first quarter.

Inside linebacker Joe Thomas suffered a knee injury playing on defense in the preseason opener Saturday and remained out when practice resumed Monday. McCarthy said the injury to Thomas, a promising undrafted rookie, shouldn’t keep him out long-term.
