Young commits to UW-Eau Claire
Addie Young, a senior captain on the Superior High School girls hockey team, has committed to play college hockey at UW-Eau Claire next season.
Young is a four-year varsity player for the Spartans and was the assistant captain and MVP last year. She was also second-team Lake Superior All-Conference and received honorable mention on the WHCA all-state team.
“Addie is a model student athlete a coach dreams of having,” SHS coach Marc Franta said. “She’s a team leader and has a drive to succeed in everything she does, whether its athletics, academics or work.
“I have had the privilege of coaching Addie for several years in soccer and hockey and I am super proud of her accomplishments. They are well deserved.”
Young has also played varsity soccer for three years and varsity tennis this past season.
Young is a regular member of the ‘A’ honor roll, a member of the National Honor Society, and is part of the Senior Mentor Program.
“Maintaining a high level in academics and athletics takes a lot of work and dedication,” Franta said. “Addie has a bright future ahead of her and with her work ethic I know she will be very successful. I’m very excited to see her succeed and play for UW-Eau Claire.”
NOTE: Young's sister, Sam, is currently playing hockey at UW-River Falls.
