WIAC is 4-for-4 in Final Fours

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has advanced a team to each of the NCAA Division III Final Fours to be contested this coming weekend.  This unprecedented feat comes on the heals of the WIAC becoming the first Division III conference to capture ‘100’ NCAA national championship this past weekend.

The UW-Whitewater men’s basketball team is pitted against Illinois Wesleyan University in a semifinal game at 5 p.m. Friday in Salem, Va. The Winner will advance to Saturday’s championship game to play either Amherst College (Mass.) or Williams College (Mass.) in a game to be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network at 4:30 p.m.

The UW-Whitewater women’s basketball team will match-up with Whitman College (Wash.) in a semifinal game beginning at 7 p.m. Friday in Stevens Point with the winner advancing to Saturday’s championship game against the winner of the Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham (N.J.) vs. Tufts University (Mass.).  The championship game is slated to begin at 7 p.m., while a third-place game will be held at 4 p.m..  Both the third-place and championship contests will also be held in Stevens Point.

In women’s ice hockey, UW-River Falls will face-off against Norwich University (Vt.) in a semifinal game on Friday night beginning at 6 p.m. CST in Plattsburgh, N.Y.  The winner will advance to play either State University of New York-Plattsburgh or University of St. Thomas in the Saturday’s championship game scheduled to start at 6 p.m., while a third-place contest will be held at 2:30 p.m.

The UW-Stevens Point men’s ice hockey team will take on State University of New York-Oswego in a semifinal game in Lewiston, Me., on Friday at 6:30 p.m. If victorious, the Pointers will face-off against the winner of the other semifinal pitting St. Norbert and State University of New York-Geneseo beginning at 6 p.m.
