SHS boys win regular-season finale

The Superior High School boys basketball team tuned up the for WIAA playoffs with a 66-57 overtime victory Thursday night at Ashland.

The No. 13 Spartans will take an 8-14 record into its WIAA Division 1 regional game at 7 p.m. Friday at No. 4 Eau Claire North.

The winner will play March 3 against the winner of No. 5 Appleton West and No. 12 Hudson.

Ashland led 31-19 at the half and Superior won the second half 25-23 to set up the extra session, which was won by the Spartans 12-3.

The Spartans had four players score in double figures led by Mason Ackley’s 17 points.

Cam Borgh was next with 13 points and  Xavier Patterson and Stephen Gee both chipped in with 10 points.

Kollin Clarembeaux and Jordan Brennan led Ashland with 18 and 14 points, respectively.
