Lundeen scores 1,000th point in Tiger win over Washburn

Northwestern High School’s Katie Lundeen became the third Tiger girl to score 1,000 points Tuesday night in Maple.

The senior reached the milestone by scoring a game-high 18 points in the Tigers’ 63-21 win over the Washburn Castle Gaurds.

The only other Tigers to score 1,000 points are believed to be Jody Peterson and Billie Jo Braatz, who both graduated in 1999.

The Tigers (10-6) also got 14 points from Mac Correll.

Arabella Boochard scored eigth points for Washburn (12-2).

The Tigers played at Barron Thursday .

TIGER TALES: In earlier action, the Tigers lost 45-22 at Hayward on Jan. 18. Lundeen led the was with 10 points. Madelyn and Emily Neff led Hayward with 18 and 15 points, respectively.

Boys basketball

A well-balanced Tiger team defeated the Spooner Rails 58-50 Tuesday in Spooner.

Northwestern, which improved to 9-6 overall and 7-2 in the Heart O’ North Conference, got 15 points apiece from Brody Payton and Kate Bartelt and 12 from Jake Brill.

Trey Nelson had 13 points for Spooner (2-11).

The Tigers host Hayward at 7:15 p.m. today.
