The Northwestern High School boys basketball team improved to 4-1 with a 58-45 win over the Spooner Rails Thursday night in Maple.
Kade Bartelt hit five 3-pointers and finished with game-high 28 points as the Tigers also improved to 2-0 in the Heart O’ North Conference.
Sam Johnson led the Rails with 16 points.
The Tigers play at Hayward today and Barron Friday. Both games begin at 7:15 p.m.

The Tigers fell to the Bloomer Blackhawks 37-29 Friday in Bloomer.
The game was defensive and physical from the start as the Tigers struggled to score and trailed 18-9 at the half.
Bloomer stretched its lead to 24-13 before the Tigers went on a 10-0 run to pull to within one.
Two straight 3-pointers by Bloomer’s Sidney Kostner made it 30-23 with eight minutes left and the Tigers couldn’t make up any more ground.
Kasha Hughlett and Katie Lundeen led the Tigers with eight points each. Lundeen also had five rebounds and Mac Correll had five assists.
Kostner led Bloomer (5-2) with eight points.
The Tigers (5-2) host Cumberland at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in Maple.
TIGER TALES: The Tiger JV remained unbeaten with a 33-32 win over the Blackhawks and the Tiger “C” team won 30-27.
The Tigers went 3-0 to win their own Robert Mackey Dual Tournament Saturday.
Northwestern is at Bloomer at 7 p.m. today.
