William "Bill" E. Johnson, 73, longtime Superior resident, died Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Villa Marina Health & Rehabilitation in Superior.

He was born in San Francisco, CA, August 21, 1944, the son of William E. and Anna (Bjork) Johnson, where he lived for one year before relocating to Superior.

He graduated from the former East High School, class of 1963, and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard.

Bill and Janet (Frederick) were united in marriage on June 19, 1971, and they celebrated forty-six years of marriage before his passing.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 435, and enjoyed fishing, bowling and deer hunting. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan, and a fan of the San Francisco 49ers.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Janet, Superior, WI; sister-in-law, Linda (Bill) Carlson, Blaine, MN; uncle, Rawlen (Carol) Bjork, Warba, MN; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins; special family friends, Bob (Mary Beth) Ahlborg and Sherry (Joe) Doskey, and their daughter, Brianna; special cousins, Mike (Carol) Nelson; and former sister-in-law, Maureen (Johnson) Singleton.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother Dick Johnson.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church, 320 N. 28th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 12:00 PM funeral service with Pastor David Schoesow officiating. Following the service, Military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435 Honor Guard.

Pallbearers for the service will be members of the American Legion Post 435.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Barnard, Bob Ahlborg, Mike Nelson, Joe Doskey, Lloyd Ethier and Jim Burm.

Burial will be in Poplar Cemetery
