Thomas Francis LeSage

Thomas Francis LeSage, 79, a Superior native, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Superior Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born on September 27, 1938 in Superior, WI, the son of Coad A. and Mary (McNamara) LeSage.

Tom was raised in Superior, and attended Cathedral Grade School and Cathedral High School, graduating in 1956.

He went on to further his education at Notre Dame University, later transferring to the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, graduating with a degree in Mortuary Science. Tom then went in to business with his father at the LeSage Funeral Home. He was a third-generation funeral director, taking over the business in 1967 when Coad retired.

Tom was united in marriage to Jean Marie Peterson on June 5, 1965 in the Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in Superior. They celebrated over fifty-two years of marriage before his passing.

Tom owned and operated the LeSage Funeral Home until he retired in 1986 when they moved to the Pattison Park area where he enjoyed being out in his garden growing vegetables. He also enjoyed making all kinds of pickles in the fall.

He waited patiently for the November deer season to come. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed hunting for over sixty-five years.

After his retirement from the funeral home he became a realtor, retiring from East West realty in 2006.

In 2008 he and Jean became Foster Grandparents with the Foster Grandparent program. They went to the Four Corners School where he became "Grandpa Tom" and enjoyed helping the first graders with reading.

Tom was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Superior Jaycees, Knights of Columbus of which he attained 4th Degree, the Superior Rotary where he served as the former president, and he held a lifetime membership to the Superior Elks Lodge #403.

Tom was preceded in death by his infant son; parents, Coad and Mary LeSage; and brother, Albert C. LeSage, San Diego, CA.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean (Peterson) LeSage; daughter, Kelly J. Larrabee, Blaine, MN; sons, Terrance A. (Tina) LeSage, Thomas M. (Jessica) LeSage, all of Superior, WI, and Dr. Timothy B. (Cheri) LeSage, Waterford, WI; grandchildren, Andrew Larrabee, Emily LeSage, Alicia LeSage, Alex LeSage, Ryan LeSage, Allison LeSage, and Savanna Flynn; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Roy Jones, Green Bay, WI; sister-in-law, Joyce LeSage, San Diego, CA; nephews, Brian (Tammy) Jones, Doctors Michael (Debbie) Jones, and Trevor (Jeff Watters) Jones; and Tigger, the cat.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior, with a scripture service to begin at 6:30 PM. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Cathedral of Christ the King, 1410 Baxter Avenue, Superior, with Rev. Fr. Adam Laski as celebrant.

Pallbearers will be Tom's sons, Terrance, Timothy and Thomas, his grandsons, Alex and Andrew, and his dear friend, Nicholas Baker.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Molly, and the entire second floor staff at Superior Health and Rehabilitation, for their kindness and wonderful care and support during this time. A special thank you also to St. Luke's Hospice staff.
