Irene E. Burfield

Irene E. Burfield of Bennett passed away on December 16, 2017, at the age of 93. She was born December 11, 1924, at home. She was the youngest of seven children of John and Karine Theien of Bennett.

She married Milton Burfield on October 17, 1942. They moved to California where she became "Rosie the Riveter" while Milt served in the Navy. They enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage.

Irene loved her family. She left a legacy of fond family memories. She created a close relationship with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She even took a trip to New Zealand with her oldest granddaughter.

Irene was an avid gardener. She always had something blooming. She was a Packer fan. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and took many bus trips. She belonged to The Dahlia Garden Club of Bennett, The Piecemakers Quilt Group, and supported several charities. She was active in Women's Ministry and Choir at her church. Irene lived her faith.

Irene lived most of her life in Bennett but spent the past two years at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living in the Town of Superior. Her family greatly appreciates the wonderful care she received while there.

She was preceded in death by her husband Milton and one grandson Michael. She is survived by her four children: Linda (Bryan) Boroo, Leonard (Susan) Burfield, Thomas (Joni) Burfield, all of Bennett, and daughter Kristine (Dennis) Draper of Wisconsin Dells, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held June 9, 2018, at the Bennett Town Hall with visitation at 10:00 A.M. followed by memorial service at 11:00 A.M.. The Reverend James Walker will officiate.
