Herbert Lindelof

Herbert Lindelof, 88, currently of Marion, Indiana and formerly of Superior, WI, died Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Marion General Hospital in Marion Indiana.

Herbert was born on April 6, 1929 in Oulu, WI the son of Peter and Sina Lindelof.

Herb owned and operated Lindelof Trucking and then Lindelof Garbage and Recycling Services. He also owned an apartment building, trailer park, and campground.

He was a farmer and raising Elk was a very important part of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and had a 10 acre pond where he enjoyed watching the wildlife. He would take in stray animals and was always feeding birds, deer, and stray cats. Herb enjoyed gardening and couldn't do it on a small scale. He liked to go strawberry picking on Johnson Berry Farm. He also enjoyed attending the Carry-In Church every Sunday.

Herb's family was most important to him. He loved attending the family reunion at Deep Lake where his signature food was to carry in a watermelon. He was a people person that loved to talk and help people. His friends and neighbors were a very big part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn; a son, Phillip Lindelof; and a grandson, Clayton Lindelof.

Herb is survived by his children, Shirley (Garry) North of Marion, IN, Richard Lindelof of Superior and Donald (Patricia) Lindelof of Superior; grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) North of Indianapolis, Bryan North of Seattle WA, Christopher (Kelly) Lindelof of Superior, and Carley and Peter Lindelof of Superior; brothers, Leonard Lindelof of Minneapolis and Erland Lindelof of Ladysmith, WI; a sister-in-law, Leetta Lioliadis of Las Vegas; and a special friend and neighbor, Dennis Koski.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16th from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th St. Rev. Richard Blood of Country Peace Presbyterian will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
