Timothy Edward Beecher

Timothy Edward Beecher (Tim) died peacefully at his home in Portland, Oregon, on October 23, 2017. He was born on August 24, 1945, in Ashland, WI.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents Lois (Sieren) and Edward Beecher of Ashland. He is survived by his long-time partner Janie Harr of the home; his sister Linda Beecher Zahm (Dr. Dennis Zahm) of Washburn, WI; his uncle John Sieren (Linda Hamilton Sieren) and their two sons of Portland; a niece Erica Henry (Adam) and their two sons of Ashland; years-long friends Mike Wallschlager and Charlene (Char) Peterson of South Range , WI; and many other friends and relatives.

When Tim graduated from Cathedral High School (1963) in Superior, WI, he joined the US Navy as a seaman apprentice, serving an in-country tour in Viet Nam. He later joined the US Naval Reserve in Duluth, MN, where he was a chief electronic technician in a special forces unit. He was recognized at retirement for Outstanding Service to the Unit as Chief Petty Officer.

Tim attended UWS, where he earned an Associates degree. He then taught electronics at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Superior for 17 years. After retirement from teaching, he decided to work on his bucket list. He learned to play guitar, operated a small kitchen for a couple of years, and bought and drove a "big rig" across the US and Canada for 5 years. After he really retired, he and Janie moved to Portland where they have lived since 2014.

At Tim's request, no service will be held. Instead, local family and friends will attend a celebratory dinner.
