Maryeda S.

Bower

Maryeda (Meemer) Bower passed away peacefully on August 8, 2017, while in hospice at Superior Rehabilitation Center, as the result of a stroke she suffered earlier this year.

Meemer was born and raised in Superior, the youngest child of Neil and Eda Smith. She graduated from Superior Central High School and earned her degree at the University of Wisconsin. She met her future husband Jack at college, who had served 4 years in the US Army during WWII and earned two Purple Hearts in the European theater.

Meemer and Jack married in 1952, moved to Superior in 1954, raised their three daughters, and both worked in the family's department store Roth Brothers. Meemer was an active volunteer in several civic and educational organizations, helping support the city she loved so much.

They retired in 1978 and moved to Naples, Florida in 1989 while spending the summers at their cabin on Lake Nebagamon.

Meemer was preceded in death by Jack and their oldest daughter Eda.

She is survived by daughters Laurie and Madge, Eda's children Eric & Leigh and great-granddaughter Wiinna. She will be sorely missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and her many friends.

A private funeral service will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions can be sent to: Richard I Bong Veterans Historical Center, 305 Harbor View Parkway, Superior, WI 54880. Assisting the family is the Cremation Society of Minnesota
