SPARTAN ROUND-UP: Season ends for golf, baseball and soccer teams
Superior High School’s Taylor Burger finished tied for 25th place at Tuesday’s WIAA Division 1 Sectional Golf meet at RiverEdge Golf Course in Marshfield.
Burger, a sophomore, finished with an 86, along with Max Hofmeister and Max Bancker of Stevens Point.
Matt Fladten of Eau Claire Memorial took medalist honors with a 76. One stroke back was Matt Tuman of Wausau East.
Burger’s round included a 40 over the first nine holes. He followed up with a 46 over the final nine holes, which included a 10 on No. 12.
Eau Claire Memorial won the team title with a score of 320. River Falls defeated Hudson in a one-hole playoff to take second place with a 330.

The season came to an end for the Spartans with a 7-2 loss to Wisconsin Rapids in a WIAA Division 1 regional game Tuesday at Wisconsin Rapids.
After Wisconsin Rapids scored single runs in the first two innings, the Spartans tied the game in the top of the third.
Michael LaJoie led off with a double and scored on Gunner Johnson’s two-out double. Johnson eventually scored when Justin Reinkall, Jared Davonsky and CJ Fortune walked.
LaJoie doubled again in the fourth inning, but Wisconsin Rapids followed with an inning-ending double play.
The Raiders took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of unearned runs, then sealed the victory with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Superior made some noise in the seventh inning when Johnson and Davonsky were hit by pitches and Fortune singled.
But the Spartans failed to score when Brandon Guck took over for Cody Brendl on the mound and got the final out of the game.
Caleb Krommenakker also pitched for the Raiders, and the three combined to allow four hits with 11 strikeouts and six walks.
Reinkall pitched the first five innings for Superior and Brandon Wing the final two. They allowed just two earned runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking three.
Krommenakker, Nate Jackan and Donovan Brandl each had two of the Raiders’ eight hits. Ryan Brock added a double and Guck singled.
Shawn O’Connell also had RBIs, along with Brandl.
SPARTAN SPIN: Superior’s final record is 12-12. … Wisconsin Rapids (14-8) played at No. 3 Eau Claire Memorial Thursday. … The Spartans say farewell to four seniors — Danovsky, Johnson, Fortune and Reinkall.

Reinkall in all-star game
Reinkall, a senior, was picked to play in the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association’s 34th annual All-Star Classic that will be held at EJ Schneider Field in Oshkosh.
Two games will be played on Friday, June 23 and four games Saturday, June 24.
Reinkall, who will play baseball at Nebraska Southeast Community College next season, will play for the West team, which will be coached by Bob Durall (Phillips), Matt Humpal (Unity), and Jeff Ryan (Prescott).
