Former Tiger advances to NCAA championships

Northwestern High School graduate Olivia Amber will be making her fourth trip to the NCAA Division I Skiing Championships.

Amber, a senior at Colby College in Maine, is one of 13 women from the East Region advancing to the national competition in cross country skiing. Nordic events will be held March 9 and 11 at Jackson Ski Touring Center in Jackson, New Hampshire.

At last year’s national championships, Amber became the first cross country skier in Colby program history to earn All-American honors.

This year, Amber has continued to lead the Mules.

At the Eastern Nordic Ski Championships Feb. 24-25, Amber finished fourth in the women’s 5K event and second in the 15K event.

The Lake Nebagamon native was the runner-up at the 2013 Wisconsin High School Nordic Championships in her senior year at Northwestern. Amber won the 6K skate race and took third in the 6K classic to finish second overall.
