BISMARCK – Some lucky player won $25,000 a year for life Monday in North Dakota’s newest lottery game.

The winning Lucky for Life ticket was sold at Farmers Union Oil in Drake in north-central North Dakota, the state lottery office reported Tuesday.

The player will have the option of taking an annuity payment of $25,000 a year for life – paid for a minimum of 20 years so that the winner’s estate continues to collect if he or she dies – or a lump-sum cash payment of $390,000.

No one had claimed the prize yet. Players have 180 days to claim their winnings.

Lottery Director Randy Miller said it’s the second $25,000-a-year-for-life winner in North Dakota since the state joined the multi-state draw game on Jan. 31.

The winning ticket matched five white balls on the numbers 20, 29, 31, 33, 40, but not the Lucky Ball, which was 10. The top prize in Lucky for Life is $1,000 a day for life.
