Winter has broad experience

Jon Winter is an excellent choice for register of deeds.

He would bring his WITC accounting degree, 28 years of experience running his own technology business through, which he consulted with 80-100 local businesses and organizations each year, plus several years working for Superior Abstract and Tile in a job that allowed him to learn much about county records in the Register of Deeds, Clerk of Courts, Treasurer and County Clerk offices. He is fully aware that as register of deeds he is responsible for issuing and recording vital documents that affect all of our lives in a variety of ways from birth to death. He also knows the job could require him to make judgments as to whether state statutes are being met, and if he has any doubts, to consult with counsel.

After observing several incidents in which people jumped on the technology wagon with little knowledge of what that was or meant, I was especially impressed with his view of technology: "Due to my long career in the technology industry, I have an understanding of how rapidly things change. It’s important to have our sights on emerging technologies while being patient enough to take the right technology road to the future." Jon’s experience with technology could save the office both time and money and that can only be a good thing!

Jon Winter will perform the duties of register of deeds with integrity and professionalism. We have known him as a supportive and contributing member of our extended family and our community. (He is a member of the Douglas County Historical Society, the Old Brule Heritage Society, the Rotary Club, the Jaycees, the Chamber of Commerce, the Lakeside Town Board, a volunteer with the Lake Superior Dragon Boat races and a regular Superior Days delegate.)

Please consider his candidacy carefully and vote accordingly.
