BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Clifford the Big Red Dog and Curious George may soon join Barbie at the Mall of America.
The Minnesota Children's Museum is opening a temporary exhibit space at the Bloomington mall to give families a place to play while it remodels and expands its building in downtown St. Paul.
The pop-up galleries will open this fall, in late September, and close January 2017. The downtown museum will remain open as construction starts in October but will close for four months in fall 2016 before reopening in early 2017 with new galleries, a new cafe and a new skyway entrance.
The museum plans to pull from its collection of touring exhibits to fill the 4,400-square-foot storefront on the third floor of the mall's north side, near a new J.W. Marriott hotel, according to a news release.
