Special enrollment for health insurance could spare penalties
People who found out too late that they would pay a penalty on their taxes for not having health insurance have another chance to enroll.
Eligible consumers can enroll in coverage between March 15 and April 30.
Wisconsin residents are eligible if:
• They are not enrolled for coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
• Attest they first became aware of or understood the implications of the Shared Responsibility Payment after the end of open enrollment, Feb. 15.
• Attest they paid the fee for not having health coverage in 2014.
Information and enrollment sessions for this special enrollment period will be held at 5:30 p.m. March 19, March 26, April 2 and April 9 at the Superior Public Library.
For information on how to apply during this special enrollment period, contact a Concentrated Employment Program navigator at 715-392-6127, visit the Affordable Care Act Marketplace at www.healthcare.gov or visit the CEP Inc. website at www.nwcep.org.
