Sex offender returns to Superior
A sex offender convicted of repeated acts of sexual assault against the same child will be released from secure custody to live in Superior Tuesday, according to a release by the Superior Police Department.
Leon Robert Linky, 25, pleaded no contest in Douglas County Circuit Court in April of 2007 to charges of repeated sexual assault of the same child and interfering with child custody. He was sentenced to five years of probation and one year in jail. He was also required to register as a sex offender. The case involved Linky, then 18, having sex with a middle school aged girl. He was told repeatedly to stay away from her but their relationship escalated. She ran away from home twice, both times she was located staying with Linky and a relative.
Linky's probation was revoked in 2009 and he was sentenced to four years in prison and six years of extended supervision, according to online court records. He was accused of third degree sex assault and sex with a child age 16 or older in 2008, but the charges were dismissed.
The Douglas County Sex Offender Notification Committee has determined that a level III notification will be conducted concerning Linky's release, to include press releases, mailings and door-to-door delivery of flyers to schools, day cares, health facilities, youth groups and members of the public living near his new residence, 1620 N. 16th St.
Linky is described in the news release as 5 feet 10 inches tall with blue eyes and brown hair. He weighs 150 pounds. According to the release, he is to have no unsupervised contact with minors, no contact with the victim and is not to consume alcohol or drugs.
