Packers’ Rodgers breaks collarbone, may be out for season

SPD accepts applications for citizens’ police academy

The Superior Police Department has opened registration for its 13th annual Citizens’ Police Academy.

The department’s eight-week, nine-session program begins Sept. 17 and offers residents information on many law enforcement topics and hands-on class experience. Police officers, evidence technicians, supervisors and detectives become teachers to give the community a better understanding of the nature of police work.

It’s not what you see on TV.

The classes run 6-10 p.m. each Wednesday, with one Saturday morning session. Candidates must complete an application, live or work in Superior, and be at least 21 years old. They also must pass a basic background check and have no prior felony convictions or habitual violations.

The class is free but is limited to 25 participants. The application deadline is Sept. 5.
