City seeks CDBG applications

The city of Superior expects about $746,257 of funding will be available under the Community Development Block Grant program for fiscal year 2015.

This public notice is to solicit proposals for funding. Applications and program information are available at the Planning Department at the Government Center, 1316 N. 14th St., Room 210 or email Application packets are now available and completed applications must be received by the Planning Department before 4 p.m. July 18.

There are many basic eligible activities that can be funded through the CDBG program. Generally, proposals should be classified within one of the four following program areas:

• Public facilities and improvements

• Public services

• Affordable housing and housing rehabilitation

• Special economic development

Proposed activities must meet the criteria for one of the CDBG national objectives: Benefit to low and moderate income people. Aid in the prevention of slum and blight or Meets an urgent need.

Applicants are encouraged to review the city of Superior 2011-2015 Consolidated Strategy and Plan for Housing and Community Development prior to preparing an application.

An orientation meeting for prospective applicants begins at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room 204 of the Government Center.
