Man jailed after standoff at Grand Casino Hinckley
HINCKLEY, Minn. -- Pine County Sheriff's deputies were involved in an armed standoff with a man in a semi in the parking lot of Grand Casino Hinckley early Friday morning.
The man eventually was taken into custody, and no shots were fired, Sheriff Mark Mansavage said in a press release.
According to Mansavage, officers were called at 4:14 a.m. by casino officials about criminal damage caused by a semi-truck driving carelessly through the casino's RV campground. The first officer at the scene called for backup, including the county's emergency response team. A standoff ensued in the casino parking lot for several hours, with the man threatening officers with a rifle or shotgun.
The man is in the Pine County jail awaiting formal charges in court, which likely will come Monday.
