A jury found a Superior man guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in her residence.

Christopher Dean Bunten, 42, was found guilty of second-degree sexual assault for a January 2012 incident in Superior. He faces a maximum penalty of up to 40 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $100,000. Sentencing is set for March 26.

He was found not guilty of an additional sex assault charge and one count of burglary.

According to the criminal complaint:

Bunten was visiting the woman’s apartment that night with two other people. The woman went to bed, and later, the other three left. Although another member of the party locked the door, Bunten was the one to shut it.

Bunten returned to the apartment, went into the woman’s bedroom and sexually assaulted her. She told police she told Bunten “no” and bit him numerous times in self-defense.
