Superior Applebee’s takes on fight against childhood cancer

The Superior Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 3606 Tower Ave., is joining about 850 other Applebee’s restaurants in an effort to cure childhood cancers.

The restaurant is raising money and awareness for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and kids’ cancer fight throughout July. The goal for the restaurants is to mark a decade of Superior with a fundraising total of $5 million.

Now through the end of the month, Applebee’s guests have an opportunity to donate to ALSF through the purchase of a paper lemon in support of childhood cancer research.

Additionally, Applebee’s restaurants will host a variety of events, including lemonade stands, golf outings, donation nights and more. Applebee’s Guests are encouraged to contact their local Applebee’s restaurant for location-specific information and event details.

“The Apple American Group and Applebee’s partnerships with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation are extremely important to our organization and our neighborhood communities,” said Diann Banaszek, marketing partner of Apple American Group, a participating Applebee’s franchise organization. “Since we first began supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Applebee’s participation has grown significantly. We are pleased that over 850 locations, including all of our 468 restaurants, will be joining in the fight against childhood cancer this year. With the outpouring of support from our guests and fellow franchise groups, we’re expecting this year’s fundraiser to be the most successful yet.”

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit charity, has raised more than $80 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 450 pediatric cancer research projects nationally.
