Wisconsin DOJ investigates officer-involved shooting in Ashland
The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, at the request of the Ashland Police Department, is investigating an officer involved shooting that took place on Monday evening after Ashland police officers attempted to make contact with a suspect located at Fourth Avenue West and Main Street West.
The involved officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation.
The suspect was transported to the Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, then flown to a hospital in Duluth.
The Wisconsin DOJ-led investigation of this incident has been a collaboration between DCI, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory. Ashland Police Department has been fully cooperating during this investigation.
DCI is continuing to collect evidence and determine the facts of this incident and will turn over investigative reports to the district attorney when the investigation concludes.
