Savings benefit dog park

The city's Capital Improvement Program is going to the dogs.

The Superior City Council is taking advantage of savings from projects to install a fence for the dog park being created in the Superior Municipal Forest, among other projects, which includes vault toilets and parking lot at city boat launch No. 8.

"It's always nice to see when we're coming in under budget on a couple different things," said Councilor Brent Fennessey. He was glad to see the savings address the long-planned and long-overdue dog park.

Preparation of the site is nearly complete, said Linda Cadotte, parks, recreation and forestry director. She said she anticipates the fence to be installed before the ground is frozen.

In other business Tuesday, the Council reschedule a public hearing to discuss the approved 2018 city budget. The hearing will take place at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 in Room 201 of the Government Center.
