Body found near search area for Cloverland man
The body of an adult male was located Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area off of Becks Road in the town of Maple in Douglas County near an area where searchers had been looking for a missing man.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office did not release any identification of the deceased man found in the same area where the volunteers and deputies were looking for Fred Luostari, 52, of the town of Cloverland, who had been missing since Thursday.
An autopsy will be performed Wednesday in Anoka County, Minn., to identify the man and determine cause of death.
Luostari was last heard from about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. His car was later found stuck on property owned by the family. On Sunday afternoon, the family contacted the Sheriff's Office, who launched an official search Monday that also included the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, rural fire departments and K-9 units from the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office as well as volunteers.. The search was hampered by the wet conditions and the clay soil.
