Philip Jason Hartwig

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — An East Grand Forks, Minn., assistant hockey coach is accused of groping a teenage girl, according to court documents charging him with gross sexual imposition.

According to a district court complaint, Philip Jason Hartwig, 46, was arrested in connection with a Sept. 3 incident in Ramsey County in which he groped the chest of a girl "under the age of 15," despite the girl's multiple requests that he stop.

The document does not state the time, address or further circumstances of the incident.

An arrest warrant was issued for Hartwig on Sept. 15, and he was arrested near Grand Forks on Sept. 22. He retained a West Fargo attorney and was still held at Grand Forks County jail on Monday, Sept. 25.

Hartwig is one of three assistant coaches for East Grand Forks Senior High School's hockey team, according to the Minnesota State High School League's website.

The East Grand Forks Blue Line Club website lists Hartwig as president of the organization, which helps facilitate youth hockey in the community.

If convicted, Hartwig faces up to 20 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
