Douglas County seeks bidders, plans budgets

On behalf of Douglas County, I wish all of you a happy autumn equinox. Although the temperature goes downhill from here, it's still an incredible season to experience in the Northland.

The Douglas County Highway Department is seeking quotes to supply its facilities with propane gas. Bids are due at 2 p.m. Oct. 4. Additionally, Northwest Regional Planning Commission is accepting sealed bids for residential recycling services to rural Douglas County; bids are due by 1 p.m. Oct. 13.

Four county government meetings are scheduled for next week. The Board of Adjustment meets at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Room 201 of the Government Center, 1316 N. 14th St., Superior. The meeting will convene a public hearing regarding applications for variances from residents in Parkland and Oakland.

The Land Sales Work Group meets at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Room 101 of the Douglas County Courthouse, 1313 Belknap St., Superior. The group will discuss a land auction ordinance amendment, land sale procedures and methods to increase land sales.

The Administration Committee holds a special meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Room 207C of the courthouse concerning the 2018 Douglas County budget. If more time is needed, the meeting could be continued to 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Finally, the Public Safety Committee meets at 4 p.m. Thursday in Room 207C of the courthouse.
